TO ALL EMERGING DANCE ARTISTS BASED IN BERLIN

Every new year, the Tanztage Berlin is not only the city's very first festival, it has also established itself nationally and internationally as an important platform for emerging dance artists since its founding in 1996. The next edition of Tanztage Berlin will once again take place under the artistic direction of Mateusz Szymanówka. The festival is currently planned for 5-20 January 2024. The festival offers emerging dance artists based in Berlin a framework for their new productions and revivals. SOLO PROJEKT

GUEST PERFORMANCE FROM POZNAN / PL

The Solo Project was created in 2006 at the Art Stations Foundation by Grazyna Kulczyk and was Poland’s first residency program. Under Joanna Lesnierowska’s directorship, it helps up-and-coming Polish artists to develop their own artistic language in exchange with selected mentors. Similar to the Coaching Project at Tanztage Berlin, the focus lies on movement research in the studio and the creative process, which culminates in a performance at the Old Brewery New Dance in Poznan. Previous mentors include Bruno Pocheron, Hooman Sharifi, Peter Pleyer, Luca Giacomo Schulte, Ornella Balestra, Ria Higler and Bush Hartshorn (2013). In 2013, the participants in the Solo Project were Baska Gwózdz, Korina Kordova and Agata Siniarska.

The Solo Project has been presented at the Tanztagen Berlin with support from the Polish Institute Berlin since 2010.

Baska GwOzdz: DESTINY’S CHILD

Baska Gwozdz proclaims an extreme desire to move. She creates collages of images and dance sequences that - through her rehearsal process - have risen from the subconscious to the surface. Baśka Gwóźdź is an independent dancer and choreographer with a degree in Musical Theatre (College of Voice and Dance, Gliwice) and Art Management (University of Lower Silesia).

KORINA KORDOVA: ON 8TH BOULEVARD. RIGHT AFTER SINUOUS CURVES.

Korina Kordova is a bundle of energy who invests her fragile yet strong presence to create a mystical, almost extra-terrestrial figure. The Brazilian-born dancer came to Poland via the Netherlands where she worked for seven years with the Silesian Dance Theatre. She is currently a member of the Centrum w Ruchu, an independent union of choreographers in Warsaw.

AGATA SINIARSKA: DEATH 24 FRAMES PER SECOND OR DO IT TO ME LIKE IN A REAL MOVIE

Agata Siniarska decelerates the feminist discourse in her precise solo piece with vivid imagery and filmic editing. Agata Siniarska has a passion for fiction and moving pictures. She is currently studying for a BA at the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT).
