Book Launch: Performative Reading + Party
2020 March 04 | 19.00
“I’m hated by more people than my grandmother can imagine. On the day of the Bundestag election, for 20 minutes, I try to persuade her not to vote for a right-wing party with this statement.”
Olivia Wenzel invites us to a séance: Old and new images around her debut novel 1000 serpentinen angst are conjured up including readings, video works, live music and talks, which are losely associated with each other. Playing off the main question Where are you now?, the performers will expand and explore other notions and ideas as they go with the flow. People read, sit, eat, and look, travel away, ask questions and answer.
OLIVIA WENZEL, born 1985 in Weimar, studied cultural sciences and aesthetic practice at the University of Hildesheim. She is writing theatre texts and prose, and most recently made music as Otis Foulie. Wenzel's plays have been performed at the Munich Kammerspiele, the Hamburg Thalia Theater, the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, among others. Besides writing, she works in workshops with children, teenagers and young adults. In the independent theatre scene she collaborates as a performer with collectives such as vorschlag:hammer. 1000 serpentinen angst is her first novel.
