No one’s coming, everyone’s going! On July 24, 2020, an enormous festival will take place in Berlin where a stunning number of independent artists and culture makers working in all disciplines will take part – by not showing up. During the coronavirus pandemic, many freelance artists and culture makers have been unable to earn money and pay their living costs. This is why we’re turning to you: Show your solidarity! Buy a ticket for Berlin’s (non) event of the year and don’t show up!

Love is one of the strongest feelings that someone can develop for another person. It can trigger violence, conflicts and even wars, but it’s also an essential motor of art. In their new project, Liebestod, deufert&plischke are interested in love stories as epic explosives for human relationship. Central to the project is a communal writing aiming to take in as many voices as possible. The Berlin-based artist duo will uncover stories that will be turned into love songs by Rasha Nahas and Alain Franco and sung during the performance.

Thomas Plischke and Kattrin Deufert have been working as artist twins deufert&plischke on various theatre projects, slide and video installations as well as text and video publications since 2003. They teach composition and dramaturgy at the University of Hamburg and at European art academies. In 2006 they were guest professors in the Performance Studies course in Hamburg, in 2008 they were guest professors at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and from 2010 to 2014 they taught Dance, Context, Choreography [BA Course] at the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT). In 2015 they coordinated a research seminar at P.A.R.T.S. together with Alain Franco.
