Der Ur-Forst – the forestation of the Sophiensæle in three acts. A German oak tree, logged down in a Berlin forest, will be planted in the ballroom. This will be followed by the theatrical highlight of the evening: at the gala for the Ur-Forst the oak tree will be celebrated as the first tree of the year 1989! The lifecycle of the tree comes full circle when it is then chopped down and burned in a bonfire in the courtyard.
