Freilichtbühne Weißensee
In German

Please note that there are no parking spaces for cars in the vicinity of the Weissensee Open-Air Theatre. Therefore we recommend using public transport.

This year we are opening our season at the lake: After having to cancel the performances of the musical-literary success due to Corona, we are now bringing them to the Open Air Theatre Weißensee! Aufbruch, Abbruch, Umbruch is the first collaboration between Tucké Royale and Kaey, two greats of the Berlin queer scene who have many things in common: Both were born in the GDR, both grew up in Saxony-Anhalt. At some point, both came into conflict with the beaten path intended for them and later moved to Berlin. Now they developed a musical-literary evening about childhood and youth in East Germany, about adaptation and politicization, about Coming-of-Age and Coming-of-Gender.

Tucké Royale, born in Quedlinburg in 1984, is a performer, author and musician. Supported by the Rosa-Luxemburg-Foundation, Royale studied contemporary puppet theatre from 2006 to 2011 at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. In addition to his own productions, he regularly collaborates with Gintersdorfer/Klaßen and Johannes Maria Schmit. Together with Hans Unstern and Black Cracker he performs as the BOIBAND.

KAEY grew up in Halle/Saale. She moved to Berlin to study fashion design. Here she has been at home for years as a host, singer in projects such as Strawberry Kaeyk and as a trans*activist in the queer scene. She also works as an author and editor for the queer city magazine Siegessäule.

HOSTS Tucké Royale, Kaey MUSIC José F. Promis
