The programme 23/24 of Sophiensæle starts on 07.12.2023
On 7.12.2023, after urgently needed renovation work, the 2023/2024 season will begin at the Sophiensaele under the new artistic direction of Andrea Niederbuchner and Jens Hillje. We will publish the programme for the opening and the season on 26.10.2023, which is also the day when the pre-sale begins.

TO ALL EMERGING DANCE ARTISTS BASED IN BERLIN
Every new year, the Tanztage Berlin is not only the city's very first festival, it has also established itself nationally and internationally as an important platform for emerging dance artists since its founding in 1996. The next edition of Tanztage Berlin will once again take place under the artistic direction of Mateusz Szymanówka. The festival is currently planned for 5-20 January 2024. The festival offers emerging dance artists based in Berlin a framework for their new productions and revivals. Ein Gesprächsabend über die Auswirkungen der Deutschen Einheit auf migrantische Communities.
Nach dem Mauerfall gingen Ost- und West-Stadtteile mit hohem migrantischem Anteil – z.B. Friedrichshain und Kreuzberg - wieder fließend ineinander über. Welche Zusammenschlüsse, Solidaritäten und geteilten Erfahrungen gab es zwischen den ehemaligen „Vertragsarbeiter_innen“ der DDR und „Gastarbeiter_innen“ der BRD? Aus einer intersektional feministischen Perspektive richtet die Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaftlerin Peggy Piesche den Blick auf ein bisher wenig beachtetes Thema und bringt im Gespräch mit ihren Gästen neue Zusammenhänge ans Licht.
Nicola Laure Al–Samarai ist Geschichts- und Kulturwissenschaftlerin, freie Autorin und Lektorin. Sie arbeitet zu Fragen marginalisierter Erinnerungs- und Kulturpolitiken, Auto/Biografien und Postkolonialität. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
Natalie Bayer ist Kulturanthropologin mit den Themenschwerpunkten Migration, Gesellschafts- und Stadtentwicklung, Grenzregime und Politik. Sie leitet derzeit das Museum Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
Katja Kinder ist eine Schwarze Deutsche Erziehungswissenschaftlerin*. Sie arbeitet als stellvertretende Geschäftsführerin der RAA Berlin. In den unterschiedlichen Kontexten ihrer Arbeit denkt sie Diskriminierungskritik und Diversitätsorientierung zusammen, um Veränderungen in der eigenen wie in anderen Organisationen anzustoßen.
Peggy Piesche (editor), born and raised in the GDR, is a Black German literary scholar and transcultural trainer for critical whiteness reflection, intersectionality, diversity, and racism and power criticism in science, politics, and society. As a lecturer on diversity, intersectionality and decolonialism (D.I.D.), she also works on and supervises this field at the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb).
