Tanztage Berlin 2025 Open Call

Tanztage Berlin 2025 Open Call

To all emerging dance artists based in Berlin

Since 1996, Tanztage Berlin has presented innovative and genre-bending work by Berlin artists in the field of contemporary dance, choreography and performance. This producing platform is a unique opportunity for the city's broadly defined choreographic newcomers and artists that have recently arrived in Berlin to present their work to a loyal local and international audience. With its 33 editions, the festival has proven many times what constitutes its DNA: it encourages artistic risk-taking, experimental formats and visions that not only challenge conventional narratives about dance and choreography but also question the status of the body in the contemporary world.

The next edition of Tanztage Berlin will again take place under the artistic direction of Mateusz Szymanówka. The festival is currently planned for January 9th–25th 2025. The festival offers emerging dance artists based in Berlin a framework for their new productions and revivals.

The program of the last editions can be found here.

In the Tanztage Berlin Podcast you can hear more about the history of the festival.

You can find the FAQs about the application here.

We, therefore, welcome applications from people with and without disabilities, with marginalized perspectives and projects with diverse, cross-age casts. We accept applications with productions that can be presented in the festival in different formats, such as stage performance, online performance, durational performance, installation, video. Most of the works during Tanztage Berlin will be presented as double bills.

More information about the Festsaal, Hochzeitssaal and Kantine here.

Our team has entered a transformation process and is dealing with ways of thinking and working that are inclusive, criticise power structures, and are sensitive towards discrimination. Currently, the majority of our staff are white and non-disabled. We know this can be challenging for BIPoC and people with disabilities who start working with us. You are welcome to make statements in your application concerning your positioning if you wish to do so.

The deadline for applications is August 11th 2024

Please also inform us about showings and presentations of your work at tanztage@sophiensaele.com. Unfortunately, we cannot provide individual feedback on the projects that were not selected.
