Age is just a number – yet there is no getting around aging. In the midst of debates about the climate movement, identity politics, and body image, it is time to renegotiate long-established generational contracts. Not only has the recent pandemic history shown that questions of responsibility and solidarity need to be revisited.
The performance festival COMING OF AGE, which will take place from September 15 to November 7 at Sophiensæle, is dedicated to various facets of aging in society - and looks at the different challenges of a phenomenon that affects us all.

TO ALL UPCOMING DANCE ARTISTS BASED IN BERLIN

Every new year, the Tanztage Berlin is not only the city's very first festival, it has also established itself nationally and internationally as an important platform for upcoming dance artists since its founding in 1996. The next edition of Tanztage Berlin will once again take place under the artistic direction of Mateusz Szymanówka. The twelve performances originally planned for 2021 will be presented retrospectively and supplemented by a programme of 2-3 new productions and revivals. The next festival edition is currently planned for 6-22 January 2022 - however, the form as well as the exact date will depend on the constant reassessment of the pandemic. The festival offers upcoming dance artists based in Berlin a framework for their new productions and revivals. The previous programme of Tanztage Berlin 2021/2022 can be found at: https://tanztage2021.Sophiensæle.com.

Our team has entered a process of transformation and is dealing with ways of thinking and working that are inclusive, criticize power structures, and are sensitive towards discrimination.
