"Beautiful, complex and painful" - A reading from the memoirs of Ogutu Muraya
Ogutu Muraya is a writer, theatre maker and spoken word artist. Since moving from Nairobi to Amsterdam in 2014, he has used diary-writing as an opportunity to locate his inner self in a foreign environment. His life in the Netherlands is reflected in his notes as an amalgam of paradoxical experiences - "beautiful, complex and painful". Over the years, a personal archive has grown that documents the challenges of his personal diaspora experience. XX reads from Muraya's writings.
Ogutu Muraya is a writer and theater maker whose work is embedded in the practice of Orature. He studied International Relations at USIU-Africa and graduated in 2016 with a Master in Arts at - DAS Theatre. His performative works & storytelling have featured in several theatres and festivals across different countries.
