The installation negotiates issues of class, gender and migration. In a subtle way it plays with conventions of fashion shows and refers to a current phenomenon in which so-called "workwear" finds its way into high fashion contexts. What's classy if you're rich, but trashy if you're poor?

With the purchase of a ticket, everyone has the opportunity to watch all four episodes live or on demand. The price system is based on solidarity - everyone pays what they want.

The performance will take place on the videoconferencing platform Zoom. A computer or laptop with a camera is required for participation. You need to download the newest Zoom software (5.3.0 at least) and agree to its privacy policy. Click here to download the Zoom manual (in German).

In addition, there is the possibility to experience the performance together as a public viewing in the Sophiensæle courtyard. Since the number of seats is limited, prior registration is required after ticket purchase. To participate in the public viewing, a smartphone instead of a computer or laptop is sufficient.

Many people classify themselves as belonging to society's "Mitte". But where exactly is that - somewhere between top and bottom, rich and poor? As part of a four-part live reality series, Turbo Pascal go in search of the diffuse categories and relationships that make up the so-called "Mitte". To do this, the collective looks around its own circle of family, friends and acquaintances.

We start in Berlin Mitte. Four friends - Alexandra, Cordula, Jule and Ernst - meet in digital space, discuss, exchange positions and search for their class consciousness. They address lines of conflict and listen to each other. They ask the viewers for advice. They open themselves up to further experiences, invite people from their past and present to join them - even across social distances. But who will really come? Who will join them?

IRGENDWIE MITTE deals with class relations on the relationship level: from real relationships a zoom-com about middle class relations emerges, musically accompanied by Friedrich Greiling / Mittekill. In the course of four episodes, in which the audience can enter at any time, the circle of people expands, the perspectives change. Which forms of solidarity seem possible? Which lines of conflict remain? Can the naming of differences lead to new alliances?

TURBO PASCAL develops interactive performances that turn theater into an assembly and negotiation space for social processes, dynamics and utopias. In addition, the collective, which was founded in the context of the Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice study program in Hildesheim, realizes participatory projects with citizens or young people and conceives formats for conversation and communication. Since 2008, the collective has been based in Berlin and works continuously with Sophiensæle.

Age is just a number – yet there is no getting around aging. In the midst of debates about the climate movement, identity politics, and body image, it is time to renegotiate long-established generational contracts. Not only has the recent pandemic history shown that questions of responsibility and solidarity need to be revisited.
The performance festival COMING OF AGE, which will take place from September 15 to November 7 at Sophiensæle, is dedicated to various facets of aging in society - and looks at the different challenges of a phenomenon that affects us all.
