As part of the Berliner Festspiele's MaerzMusik festival, this evening's two works bring the animal world to the stage and blur the boundaries between genres. In Ute Wassermann's The Art of Camouflage, the participants weave themselves into a speculative habitat. The performers interact with resonances of poisonous green, glowing, water-filled aquariums or create mutations between human and amphibian voices with mini loudspeakers and brass megaphones. The concert performance The Art of Camouflage in the Hochzeitssaal will be followed by the musical theater The Urban Tale of a Hippo, which explores posthuman states through instrumental and electronic sounds and will be performed by the Synaesthesis ensemble.
