What is real? What is fake? Is there still something that can really be called personal? Björn Säfsten’s performance Landscapes of I saunters along the boundary between personal and fictional, genuine real and counterfeit. The Swedish choreographer examines our wish to permanently control our exterior perception, and plays with the insecurity of an apparently fixed reality. With rhythm and musicality, exactness of detail and humour he weaves solos by three performers into one another, hiking through the landscape of our self-awareness – or lack of it.

Björn Säfsten examines, dissects and exhibits body, mind and their associated activities in his works as a choreographer. His choreographic practice draws out a mix of acute details and grand gestures in his individual performers, humorously attracting the viewer to mirror themselves in the movements in front of them. Säfsten has created a series of self-produced pieces since 2006 and has also been commissioned for collaborations with Skånes Dansteater, Malmö and the Cullberg Ballet, Stockholm, to name a few.  He was awarded the Cullberg Prize in 2009.
