Diskussion zu Arbeit, Barrieren und Strukturen – Sophiensæle | Independent Theater in Berlin

Diskussion zu Arbeit, Barrieren und Strukturen

Many people experience barriers when they want to go to the theatre or work there. Reasons for this include information that is hard to access, buildings that are not suitable, or unclear procedures. In daily work, there are many structures that exclude people. One important point is training: Many areas in dance and theatre do not offer accessible or inclusive training paths. Because of this, not everyone can receive the qualification they need.

Another issue is workshops for disabled people. These structures often give people very few chances to work in the general job market or to have self-determined work. This also affects jobs in the theatre. People working in these workshops often do not receive fair pay and have difficulty moving into regular employment. As a result, perspectives and talents are lost.

This discussion focuses on the experiences and perspectives of disabled and chronically ill people. It is about barriers and about the changes needed to make theatre work more accessible, fair, and diverse — especially regarding training, pay, and real job opportunities.
