Fidelio - Ein deutscher Albtraum in vier Folgen: Sturm

In the finale of the four-part Fidelio series, a storm shall break forth in the Sophiensæle -- over an assault course of meandering stairways and hidden dungeons, performers as well as audience members will undergo training for the long-awaited revolution. Previous episodes had the collective rubbing salt in their wounds while kicking sand into the eyes of others: the traits of prison life were illuminated, the system’s psyche placed on the couch.

But our lust for carnage and historical trash still hankers like faith in late capitalism. Camouflage disguises intentions; false paths fall in on themselves; and whoever you thought you loved is here on a hostile mission.

Is this the beginning of a new world? Will the nationalistic Germany ever die? Only one thing is certain: we won’t make it out of here alone. The final production in the Fidelio series is a symbolic demolition party for the music theatre collective’s intense and fertile collaboration with the Sophiensæle, which over the last two years has produced the successful Giacomo Puccini und Ludwig van Beethoven music theatre series.
