HAUEN UND STECHEN:
Schwarz

Schwarz
Black is the abyss into which Leonore jumps. The shadows have lost their silhouettes in the dungeon which she dares enter in order to free everyone. However, the black hole is not the void but rather an abundance of energy. The Age of Enlightenment is slowly dying and poses its last question: is it really sleep that gives birth to the monster, or is it those all too awake and blinded by the light who let themselves get carried away?
Following their Puccini adventure, the musical theater collective HAUEN•UND•STECHEN begin their second series: Schwarz-Rotz-Gold-Sturm. Fidelio – Ein deutscher Albtraum in vier Folgen. Beethoven’s rescue opera resonates like a distorted echo of romantic hopes. The self-image of a nation of liberty, equality and fraternity is celebrated until its collapse and the storming of the prisons of German idealism and European exertion of power begins to rage.
