What does the school of our dreams look like? What and from whom do we want to learn? These are the questions that led Henrike Iglesias to found their ACADEMY during the 2017 The Future is F*e*m*a*l*e* festival. The ACADEMY is the kind of school that you would have loved to have attended. In 2018, this feminist institution presents a series of regular one-day classroom sessions, associated with select themes from Sophiensaele’s regular program. Between folding desks, feminist libraries, arts and crafts corners and play area, are new teachers and topics you’ve probably never encountered in school before. Chronic Gamer Girls kick-off the series by examining the political and feminist potential of games.

HENRIKE IGLESIAS understand pop cultural and mass media phenomena as a mirror of societal attitudes and grievances, and love to explore them from queer and feminist perspectives. Based in Berlin and Basel , they make experimental performances. The permanent crew includes Anna Fries, Eva G. Alonso, Malu Peeters, Marielle Schavan and Sophia Schroth. Their performances are primarily housed in the Sophiensælen and have also been invited to imagetanz Vienna, the Heidelberg Stückemarkt, the FIBA Festival in Buenos Aires, the digital Showcase of the Theatertreffen and Politik im Freien Theater, among others. https://henrikeiglesias.com/
