IRINA MÜLLER studied choreography and dance at the School for New Dance Development SNDO in Amsterdam. Since then, the Swiss-born choreographer has been living in Berlin, where she works as a freelance choreographer, performer and dramaturg. In her work Irina Müller explores opposites and their conditionalities. The tension between two poles serves as a motor for the fanning out of nuances and potentials between these dualities. Her first full-length piece On pleasure and fear, which explores the flip from pleasure to fear, premiered at Tanz im August 2010 in Berlin. Irina Müller was artist in residence at Tanzwerkstatt Berlin (2010) and she received the Cultural Promotion Award of the Canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland (2007). As a performer she has been involved in numerous projects by Thomas Lehmen, Jochen Roller, Petra Sabisch, Hermann Heisig, Nuno Lucas and David Weber-Krebs, among others. Regular collaborations connect her with Diego Gil, Therese Markhus, Eva Meyer-Keller and Ayara Hernández Holz/Felix Marchand (Lupita Pulpo).
