The Julius-Hans-Spiegel-Zentrum will be a guest at Sophiensæle until January 31st 2016. This mobile research center will dedicate itself to an uncovered aspect of German dance history. They will examine how different dance cultures and exclusions interlace with each other, and influence dance to this present day. For the opening of this center, American dance expert Jacqueline Shea Murphy developed an alternative, post-colonial perspective on contemporary dance and its modern heritage. The works of five Berlin artists in residence - Dragana Bulut, Tümay Kılınçel/Nuray Demir, Sara Mikolai and Julian Weber, will be presented at a festival in January 2016.

The Julius-Hans-Spiegel-Zentrum will be opening on november 14th with a lecture by JACQUELINE SHEA MURPHY.

THE ARCHIVE OF THE JULIUS-HANS-SPIEGEL-ZENTRUM GATHERS HISTORICAL MATERIALS AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE ABOUT THE EXOTISMS OF DANCE MODERNITY. Opened each Thursday 6 pm to 8 pm as well as by appointment: archiv@spiegel-zentrum.de.
