How can you stage somebody else’s story? How can you narrate something that doesn’t correspond to your own experience? In this touching work, Finnish choreographer Sanna Kekäläinen, together with the performer Maija Karhunen, tells the story of her long-time friend Hafed. Born in Algeria, he now lives in Paris, sans papiers. Hafed Collage of Differences and Fragility is an attempt to conjure palpable traces of his corporeality. For this choreographer, with her acute political sensitivity, it is also a quest for the bodily differences that separate us, and the fragility that unites us.
