Laughing Hole

Three performers in coloured cleaner’s smocks are working their way through hundreds of cardboard signs that lie covering the floor. They hold up one sign after another before sticking them to the wall, filling the room with often politically tendentious phrases and slogans: “die here”, “Gaza party”, “immigrant on sale” or “impotent terror”. Meanwhile the performers of this absurd, existential durational performance laugh continuously for six hours to the point of exhaustion. An intense, disturbing experience, Laughing Hole was created as a reaction to the illegal U.S. prison at Guantaìnamo Bay and the ideology with which it is connected.
