Her project Distinguished Pieces made Spanish choreographer La Ribot a key figure within the international contemporary dance and live art scenes. The work consists of short solos that divide their discourse into parts which are ordered into independent sequences. In 2003 the first 34 Distinguished Pieces were presented as one long performance under the title Panoramix as part of Live Culture at the Tate Modern, London. It is a panorama of the first ten years of La Ribot’s acclaimed ongoing project. Lasting three hours Panoramix is a hybrid of exhibition, contemporary dance and experimental performance. As La Ribot’s actions, poses and objects accumulate, a spatialised memory begins to form.
