After the performance on 12th December, dance scholar Thomas Kampe and choreographer James Batchelor discuss the nearly forgotten diasporic legacy of Expressionist pioneers Gertrud Bodenwieser and Hilde Holger. Keeping their practices alive in exile—Bodenwieser in Australia and Holger in her London basement studio—their radical, humanist lineage is now being re-activated in Notes of Self, blending century-old avant-garde experimentation with the joyful inventiveness of children to imagine a renewed, co-creative contemporary practice.
