Left I - Right I: Movie

Left I - Right I: Movie
This video piece shows us the two dancers’ everyday life from an unusual perspective. Their faces are at the center of these parallel worlds, as their expressions playfully interact with the moving surroundings.
And elsewhere too, the pair is often on the move. Marcela Giesche studied in Rotterdam (Dansacademie) and Ohio (B.F.A., Ohio State University), while Sonya Levin trained first in Moscow and then at the SEAD (ICE choreography track).
The live performance with video will be shown from 13-16 February 2014 in Dock 11.
"The original inspiration for this work developed from the unique placement of the camera focused on the self /"I". This setup shows the subject as a stable center in a constantly moving world. It provoked questions about self perception and how technology can give an almost god-like perspective on the world we live in. This film became part of a performance developed from the two different functions of the brain’s left and right hemispheres dealing with questions of faith." - Marcela Giesche + Sonya Levin
