History has failed us, but…
Dance/Performance
In German and English

On June 17, the English Theater Berlin shows the performance one more time. >> More information

If I can't dance it's not my revolution. The performance History has failed us, but... deals with physical forms of protest and searches for a solidary togetherness while taking into account different bodies. Which narratives and images of resistance are remembered - and how are they told?
Inspired by old and young protest movements such as the Gezi-Park Movement from Turkey or the Candlelight Protests of South Korea, Olivia Hyunsin Kim is concerned with finding new ways of empowerment for bodies that are perceived as "different" or "foreign" in society. Racist resentment, evident not only in electoral successes for right-wing parties but also in attacks on "racialized" bodies on the streets or in the theater, make us ask how we can feel safe and fight back. How can we, when language ends, find resistance and empowerment in dance and movement? With History has failed us, but... Olivia Hyunsin Kim creates an immersive and sensual stage piece that generates new spaces of encounter.
