Sheena McGrandles’s successful experimental musical is back: Between concert, spoken word and performance, one ensemble together with a small choir of childless people speculates on new ways of starting a family!

A temporary collective of Berlin artists explores different perspectives on parenthood and the symbolic power of the child as a bearer of hope. Where does the human need to create a family come from? Which bodies may and can reproduce, how and where? What wishes do we project onto a child who, as part of a new generation, could permanently change our current society with its classic family constructs and role distributions? A multi-layered and humorous artistic work that links myths and stories from antiquity and the present with personal experiences.

CONTENT NOTE The show contains a scene in which the subject of abortion is discussed.

The play lasts approximately 130 minutes and has a 20-minute intermission after the first 60 minutes. The play uses English spoken language and is suitable for all ages. There is a written handout in English to accompany the sung text. It is not very light and not very dark, but rather a lighting situation with saturated colours. There are no big light changes or surprises. A moving light creates different spots on the floor. There are no loud noises or sound effects. The sound mainly transmits musical content. The room can be left and entered at any time. No movement participation or certain mobility of the audience is expected. There is no specific interaction with the audience except for one or two questions. If you wish you can raise your hand to answer. Seating is on one of two tribunes arranged in an L-shape. There are two wheelchair spaces and one beanbag seat that can be reserved by phone or booked via the online ticket shop or at the box office, if available. If you require specific seating of any other kind, please arrive 20-30 minutes prior to show time and approach our evening staff.
