Hardly anyone associates the Holy Virgin Mary with hatred and feminism - at least not until now! In the beginning of her choreographic-performative research on these very themes, Teresa Vittucci liberates Mary from the sacred attributions as pure and perfect, innocent and holy. As icon, slave and heroine at the same time, she brings the Queen of Love back to earth, shows her ambivalence and her queer feminist potential. The stage is set for Matriarch Maria, her crusade for vulnerability and the enormous power that derives from it.
TERESA VITTUCCI (Zürich) is a choreographer and dancer. She graduated from the Konservatorium Wien, the Ailey School, the SEAD, and the Hochschule der Künste Bern. She collaborates with Nils A. Alina Arshi was born in Lucknow, India. She did some of her growing up there, and some of it in Muscat, Oman. This opened her up to a variety of cultural inputs right from the beginning. In 2015 she moved to Brussels, Belgium, from where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in business administration at KU Leuven. It was in this city that she discovered the professional dance world and began her training at Tictac Art Center. Here, during a year and a half she let herself be absorbed by the visions, practices, and techniques of artists such as David Zambrano, Mat Voorter, Martin Kilvady, among many more.
