The Myth: last day is centered around a prefabricated archaeological mine, where a pseudo-archaeologist digs herself out of the ground. Being both the researcher and the subject, the investigator and the suspect, she playfully attaches stories to the everyday objects that she is excavating. In a doomsday-concert, the researcher becomes a chaotic metalhead, animating the ruins, exploring reasons to project towards the future and stay on the surface.
Rumour has it that over centuries the layers underneath the ground have preserved friction energy from sociologic changes and collective reconfigurations. The crust of the earth has stored geological activities, memories and marches, generating magnetic heat and making it possible, in ideal circumstances, to defeat the decomposition of flesh.
The Estonian choreographer Netti Nüganen has performed in Florentina Holzinger’s shows at Sophiensæle many times and finally brings her own work to Berlin. The piece intertwines reality and fiction and creates myths, thereby constructing speculative pasts and futures. The Myth: last day has won the prize for the best Estonian performing arts production in 2022.

Netti Nüganen (AT/EE) uses the performative moment to question what forms of spectatorship are needed and what's at stake. Establishing connections with the past, Nüganen (she/her/a doomer) forms an intentional look upon the present, with the wish to extend the perspective towards the future. Treating everything known with careful deconstruction, she reshapes storytelling - using this method to operate in the gaps between recognisable signs and language. After graduating from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO), Nüganen’s works have been shown at My Wild Flag festival, Batard Festival, Impulstanz, Pre-Urbaines, Tartu Art Museum, KIM? gallery, Kanuti Gildi SAAL, Lisbon Film Festival, Lewisham Art Gallery, Sequences Festival and more. Next to that she has been touring since 2017 with Florentina Holzinger’s performances Apollon, Tanz, Ophelia’s Got Talent, Sancta.
