Workshop Bird Dances with Kareth Schaffer
The Bird Dances workshop series invites everyone to enter the world of birds and explore their movements in a joint dance.
At the beginning of the workshop, we will talk about common bird species and their habits. We then start with a warm-up in which we focus on imitating and representing various bird movements. At the end of the workshop, all participants will learn a dance inspired by the movements of a particular bird species - the crane dance, the stork dance, the skylark dance, the red kite dance or the cuckoo dance.
The workshop is open to everyone, no previous knowledge of dance or bird watching is necessary. Bird Dances workshops have already been held in various groups, from community centers, school classes and sports clubs to retirement homes and even birthday parties.

Kareth Schaffer is artistic director and choreographer of Construction Company and practices an expanded concept of choreography: among other things, her dance pieces have examined ancient monastic practices, jumprope, synchronized swimming, foley, Angela Merkel, emojis, and various modes of storytelling. She shows her work in Germany and internationally, is a Pina Bausch Fellow, and is intensely committed to amassing various forms of (embodied) knowledge.
