Workshop: Creative History Writing

When we look back on queer life today from a hundred years in the futurewhat stories might we tell? And who actually gets to tell our own?

This workshop explores these and related questions together with the participants. Our starting point is what we knowand also what we don’t knowabout the queer history of the past century in Germany, from the Weimar Republic to the present day. Where can we trace continuities of emancipation and resistancebut also of violence and discrimination? What language have we developed for gender and desire, and what language will we need in the future? In doing so, we also turn the lens on ourselves: What traces do we leave behind, what would our lives one day be reconstructed from, and what do we want to pass on? We warmly invite you to explore queer history with us, to connect it with your own biography, and to write it forward together, speculatively.

In simple words

This workshop is about queer history in Germany. We look at the last 100 years: What happened? What do we know – and what don't we know? And we look at ourselves. Through writing, we hold on to it: How did you live? And how will people tell this story in 100 years?
