On October 3, Tanja Krone invites you to an outdoor adaptation of her successful festival performance from last fall, as the final highlight of our focus Das Ost-West-Ding 2.

“You must learn to extend your elbows now!” This post-reunification mantra had a decisive impact on 13-year-old Tanja Krone at the time and marked the end of the GDR for her. Almost 30 years later, she asks her family, teachers and school friends about their everyday life during the time of reunification. What shifts did the system change bring about in their lives? In a “polyphony of scepticism about the present and idealization of the past” (Der Tagesspiegel), three women from two generations reveal layer after layer of histories. Using synthesizers and mixtapes, Krone invents the accompanying soundtrack and carefully creates something new.

ACCESSBILITY INFORMATION
The event takes place in the garden of Sophienkirche. The entrance is located in Sophienstraße (diagonally opposite of Sophiensæle, Sophienstraße 18). Since the event will take place outside, please bring weatherproof clothing. On site there will be seating with stools, but you are welcome to bring your own blankets and cushions. If that is the case, please approach our staff. The show takes 50 minutes, followed by a talk with the audience, and is held in German spoken language. Admission is free. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact Gina Jeske at jeske@sophiensaele.com or 030 / 27 89 00 35.

TANJA KRONE is a director, performer and musician whose projects deal with art as a space of possibility and participation of various protagonists. Her performances in the past have ranged from the founding of the world's largest women's rock band to the invention of utopian states in Africa and the creation of a modern youth Salvation Army in Berlin. Since summer 2017 she has been touring European cities with The European House of Gambling, an international group of performers and do-gooders, to find out if a gambling community is also a just one.
