This self-governed talk between Liz Rosenfeld and Jen Rosenblit offers an encounter to reflect on what it is to hold one’s own flesh and what it is to witness that intimacy. What these two artists show and how they show it in their work. The functions of their bodies as desired objects and how they approach similar topics from completely different practices and perspectives. What are their magics and how do they enact them?

Perhaps they enter or end in many different locations and extend a direct invitation to all who want to speak, listen and lean into flesh as erotic content needing to be held.

WITH Liz Rosenfeld, Jen Rosenblit

Within the frame of Leisure & Pleasure, supported by the Capital Cultural Fund. Media partners: Arts of the Working Class, Berlin Art Link, Kulturplakatierung, Missy Magazine, Rausgegangen, tip Berlin, taz.die tageszeitung.

Jen Rosenblit makes performances based in Berlin after many years in New York City, surrounding architectures, bodies, text and ideas concerned with problems that arise inside of agendas for togetherness. Rosenblit’s works lean toward the uncanny, locating ways of being together amidst (un) familiar and impossible contradictions. The methodology supports an expanse of meaning as it emerges between things and moves toward an unwinding and a possible collapse. Desire and sexuality linger as reoccurring points of departure without demanding a singular aesthetic or representation. Rosenblit is a 2018 Guggenheim Fellow, a recipient of a 2014 New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award, a 2023 La Becque (Vevey, CH) artist in residence and has collaborated with artists including Simone Aughterlony, Miguel Gutierrez, A.K.Burns and Philipp Gehmacher. www.jenrosenblit.net

LIZ ROSENFELD (USA/ DE, they/them) work has shown in various international museums and venues including The Berlinische Galerie, The Berlinale, Sophiensæle, HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, The Tate Modern, The Hammer Museum, The Leslie Lohman Museum, The Barbican Centre, and The German Historical Museum. Liz received an MFA in Performance from SAIC, 2005, followed by an MA from NYU in Performance Studies.
