tanzpol 2024 is a festival for contemporary dance and performance that will be hosted by Sophiensæle and Uferstudios Berlin from 23.05.–02.06. This year, tanzpol is staging eight productions focusing on the positions of Afghan and Iranian artists living in different contexts in Europe. tanzpol 's curatorial focus is on the conditions and situations of being in exile and explores the question: “How do experiences of exile continue within an international artistic field?”

The festival program confronts the multi-layered and complex nature of the term “exile” on an artistic level and in discussion formats. It questions mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion within European art scenes and does not shy away from a clash of diverse, even contradictory, perspectives. The performances give impulses to think about possible alliances and the shaping of a togetherness that does not have to be conflict-free and harmonious, but can be humorous and contradictory and arouse curiosity. Through dancing, laughing, singing, feeling, speaking, celebrating, discussing and mourning together in interactive formats, gatherings, interdisciplinary concert-dance performances, three workshops and two panel discussions, tanzpol invites you to enter into dialog, listen and get to know each other.
