The word “lounge” is both verb and noun: an action of sitting or lying down in a relaxed manner, or a public space where one can relax. This dual nature of relaxation is the focus of this duet for two women-identifying. Together they move through states of active and passive rest, using each other’s presence to delve deeper into the vibe and into themselves. Heavily influenced by dance genres and sonic textures from the African diaspora living in Lisbon, Marga Alfeirão seeks active assertions of femininity by creating space for lesbian sensualities.
Trauma Bar und Kino presents LOUNGE with its expanded cast, one year after its premiere at Tanztage Berlin 2023. LOUNGE was invited as one of ten productions to the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2024.

A production by Marga Alfeirão in co-production with Sophiensæle. Funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
Marga Alfeirão uses media to carve safe-spaces for the exploration of intimacy and sexuality through dance and performance. Heavily influenced by dance-genres and sound textures from the african diaspora disseminated through Lisbon’s social tissue, Alfeirão attempts an active claim of womanhood, making room for lesbian sensualities. Last year together with Camila Malenchini, she premiered Wet Eyez, a work on emotional bodies and fantasy. She has worked with choreographers Tamara Alegre and Antonja Livingstone and architect Afaina de Jong, among others. She is active in the Portuguese Ballroom scene as a founding member of the Casa das Musas. Graduated from HZT’s BA in dance and choreography in Berlin, she initiated Lapdances to Ringtones and Lullabies, a research on erotics and rest.
