The fusion of private and public life is the ubiquitous topic of our times.  Social networks, reality-tv, spying scandals and surveillance – all these have become everyday phenomena. But how exactly does this translate from private life over into the intimate? This year’s Freischwimmer Festival is sending seven artists and groups out on the search for intimacy. Where does the difference between intimacy and privacy lie? How can this even be addressed in a public theater? Where can boundaries be drawn or crossed, perspectives be inverted, flipping the inside out, or sharing phobias and desires? Freischwimmer 2014/15 finds intimacy in Danish television and Austrian train stations, in slippery radio shows or motherly gyms, at the taxidermists’, in unusual family stories or in a very private dance performance in a public space.
