A performative installation

Daddy is dead. Uncle killed him. Daddy was king. Now Uncle is king. And Mum sleeps with Uncle. The son (Hamlet, Prince of Danmark) has a problem: Now what?

There are two Hamlets. Both make radically different choices. One Hamlet says: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. There is a truth and it must be brought to light. Even if people have to die for it. My personal grievings and the overthrow of the political order are one. The other one says: What do I know about politics? The world has become so complicated. Maybe Daddy wasn't fit to stand up against the Norwegian threat anymore. Every man is the architect of his own fortune. I shall take my pills and live the good life.

Ophelia has crawled into Queen Gertrud, and Gertrud has crawled into Ophelia. Now there is a beautiful girl inside of Gertrud ans cries: If Hamlet does not want me, I shall drown myself. It's all or none! And inside of Ophelia there is Gertrud and says: Better to stay queen, at my age I won't find another job. Power is better than nothing.

bösediva takes motives and thoughts from Shakespeare's Hamlet and uses them for an exhibition with living art objects. Can we still think politically today? And how? Can we still be radical? And what does it mean? Are women allowed to grow older? How do we get to a moral choice? DOPPELHAMLET creates a space for these questions and invites the audience to take tour. A Tour d'Hamlet.

bösediva is building a machine to turn theatre into visual arts. One of the main subjects of our research is the tension between the romantic impulses of narrative in theatre and literature and the purity of the art object, which is free of ideology. Other subjects are the blurring of the boundaries between the sexes, the male and female body and their representations. bösediva utilizes performance art, video- and sound-installation. bösediva works in a post-virtuosic style and in the tradition of romantic deconstructivism. Elisa Duca and Robin Detje are bösediva. bösediva collaborates with the musician Jochen Arbeit („Einstürzende Neubauten“) and the video artists Chris Kondek and Rebecca Salvadori. Past shows: Lou Blue (2009), Godzilla fühlt sich frei (2010) Fr. Monster (2010), Schönheistmaschine (2012).
