Swoosh Lieu:
Who moves?!
Performance
Deutsch + Englisch

Boats, fences, trains, camps, the open sea, throngs of people in transit spaces – these are just some of the images of migration which dominate the media. Who produces these pictures and what role do women* play in them? What can images reveal and show us differently, if we dismantle and piece them back together? In their new production, Swoosh Lieu take a feminist look at the subject of migration: Why have women* been voluntarily or involuntarily on the move since generations and in various political contexts? Why do they traverse boundaries, what are they fighting for? Based on a mutual contemplation of images together with women* on the move, Swoosh Lieu take a seat at the assembly line of motivations, question the power of images and the privilege of the gaze, and search for means of expression and changes in perception.
