Johannes Müller / Philine Rinnert:
Das weiße Rössl am Central Park
Musical Theater
Auf Deutsch - in German

This is a relaxed performance: The auditorium is not completely in the dark. Those who wish can go in and out during the show or retire to the foyer for a break. Silence is not mandatory. Alternative seating and hearing protection will be provided.

A multimedial evening about Jewish-German refugee experience, lost entertainment history and the dazzling (re)discovery of Heimat: Im Weißen Rössl (1930) was one of the last legendary revue theatre plays of the Weimar Republic. Later banned by the Nazis, it lived on in numerous productions by refugee Europeans in New York. Müller/Rinnert merge the music of the original revue with a New York adaptation by Jimmy Berg: between neon advertising and rolling luggage trolleys, contemporary witnesses and musical interludes, performers and audience are caught in a dizzying vortex.

Johannes Müller / Philine Rinnert develop music theatre hybrids that focus on the past of opera, its effects and techniques, but which are also an archaeology of the present, of entertainment and queer culture. For their work Reading Salomé they received the jury prize at the Favoriten Festival 2016. In 2019 they were invited to Impulse Theater Festival with White Limozeen. www.johannesmueller.eu | www.philinerinnert.de
