Accessibility is not only a human right, but an even more exciting creative tool. Understanding accessibility as an integral part of the artistic process allows disabled and deaf audience members to experience a performance on an equal footing with non-disabled people, and creates a groundbreaking aesthetic that enriches the contemporary performance scene. The development of these aesthetics of access now has a long tradition within the community of disabled and deaf artists. Building on this, Rachel Bagshaw and Sophie Woolley share their experiences in the creative use of captioning and present some exercises to support other arts practitioners in their own use and style development of captioning.

The workshop will take place on Zoom. There will be a 1-hour lunch break between 12:30 and 13:30.

WORKSHOP BY Rachel Bagshaw, Sophie Woolley, Joshua Pharo
