In cooperation with Haus am Waldsee and Georg Kolbe Museum, Gisèle Vienne’s work will be on show at various venues, offering an insight into the diverse and complex practice of the artist, choreographer and director over the past 25 years.
As part of Berlin Art Week, we are opening twice: on 11.9.2024 at Haus am Waldsee with This Causes Consciousness to Fracture - A Puppet Play, a large-scale solo exhibition throughout the house of Vienne’s anthropomorphic figures and puppets, and on 12.9. at the Georg-Kolbe-Museum with I know that I can double myself, in which Gisèle Vienne works enter into dialogue with puppets by female artists of the Avant-Garde. The artist talk with Gisèle Vienne and Florentina Holzinger awaits you at Sophiensæle on 15 September, following a screening of her film Jerk. The performances of Crowd will also take place at Sophiensælen from November 13-16, 2024. They will be accompanied by a workshop on movement and cinematographic writing with the dancers of the Compagnie DACM/Gisèle Vienne. On November 14, Gisèle Vienne will present her new publication, This Causes Consciousness to Fracture (Spector Books), in conversation with Anna Gritz (Haus am Waldsee). The book is dedicated to the collaborative work of Gisèle Vienne and Estelle Hanania.
Starting on November 29, the interdisciplinary art workshop Art in Motion – What Truly Moves You? will take place at Haus am Waldsee, the Georg Kolbe Museum, and Sophiensæle, open to participants aged 15 to 21.
