MARCH 23 – 28
Our spring-time event Queer Darlings features favorite queer productions that we have seen over the past year: The show Beige B*tch by Nima Séne is presented in Germany for the first time and just like the revival of Joana Tischkaus solo BEING PINK AIN'T EASY focuses on queer staging strategies of race: Both works examine the complex interplay of race and gender in contemporary popular culture. The pieces Ef_Femininity and Love Me Harder draw political power from personal stories: While Schwald/Leuenberger, in collaboration with three South Indian co-performers, show how they have fought against all obstacles to gain pride in their personal femininities, the Jewish queer leading actor of the CHICKS* lets dominant images of masculinity crumble. The Queer Darlings focus is completed by an issue of the discourse series Politics of Love on the subject of Queering Race.
A SOPHIENSÆLE festival. Media partner: Siegessäule.
