Queer Darlings 3
MARCH 1–13
In the third round of our spring series QUEER DARLINGS we again bring old and new favorites to Berlin. This time, their works focus on contemporary translations of archetypal figures and myths. The productions of the five invited performance makers and choreographers are animated by biblical figures, ancient deities as well as modern and contemporary icons of the entertainment industry. How do these collective images, their continuations and rewritings, shape our understanding of gender and race? And how can their potential for resistance be activated? The artists of the festival appropriate archetypes in order to remove the basis of stereotypes. They create new mythologies in order to establish communities that are as tender as they are political.
WITH Frédéric Gies, Cherish Menzo, Vincent Riebeek, Teresa Vittucci + Colin Self, tiran, and others.
A program focus of the SOPHIENSÆLE. Sponsored by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe. Media partner: Siegessäule, PW-Magazine, taz, die Tageszeitung.
