SOPHIENSÆLE JUGENDFESTSPIELE 2015

SOPHIENSÆLE JUGENDFESTSPIELE 2015

JUNE 16 – 20
AUSSER MIR, GRENZFÄLLE, AN! | FREE ENTRANCE
ACCREDITATION NECESSARY UNDER: PRESSE@SOPHIENSAELE.COM
CISSI’S BALLROOM 10/7 EURO

For the second time in a row the Jugendfestspiele (Youth Festival) will be take place at the Sophiensæle! More than 30 adolescent and young adults will perform and dance in four productions which they created together with professional artists. This year’s focal point will be identity: What defines us, how do we define ourselves, and what role do we really play in daily life?

The five TUSCH-Project students become experts in GrenzFälle: researching various fields they examine inner, outer, as well as, self-determined limits. Top athletic performances encounter phenomenal academic discoveries, artists encounter the Frontex border patrollers, dreams encounter reality. Will we find out what shapes and defines us, and what connects us to other people and our own identity somewhere in between?  In Außer mir the young participants of the Chance Tanz Project set out on a journey towards the commonalities and particularities of every individual.

Those who are on stage play a role – but what role do we play daily? Did we choose this role voluntarily or did we seek it out for ourselves? In Cissi’s Ballroom So.Phile, the Sophienæle’s Youth Club, examines role models and stereotypes, and poses the question to what extent we - and society define our identity through our gender. To cap off the Youth Festival we will present the production Ab!, which was initiated and created by FH Potsdam students. Five artists, together with adolescents from a refugee asylum in Britz and the JKW Grenzallee have developed a theater piece. The focal point of this project moves far beyond the artistic conceptualization towards real encounters and dialogue.
